Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Playmakers Edge
Getting Started
Playmakers Edge is a college football analytics platform with two distinct features:
- Edge AI — Our machine learning model that predicts against-the-spread outcomes for all 136 FBS teams. View verified results on the Track Record page.
- Simulate Game — A separate play-by-play simulation engine that lets you run any matchup to see how games might unfold.
These are independent systems built for different purposes.
Getting started is easy:
- Create a free account using Google OAuth or email
- Browse available predictions on the Picks page
- Use your free credits to unlock predictions you're interested in
- Purchase additional credits when needed
Currently we focus exclusively on college football (FBS). We analyze all 136 FBS teams and provide predictions for regular season and bowl games.
Yes, a free account is required to access predictions. You can sign up quickly using Google OAuth or email.
We don't have a native mobile app yet, but our website is fully responsive and works great on mobile browsers. You can add it to your home screen for app-like experience.
Predictions & Simulations
Our AI model maintains a track record of approximately 55-60% accuracy against the spread, which is significantly above the break-even point of 52.4% needed for profitable betting. You can view our complete, transparent track record on the Track Record page.
PPI (Playmakers Power Index) is our proprietary 0-100 rating system that evaluates team strength using a multi-factor approach. Unlike simple win-loss rankings, PPI incorporates offensive and defensive performance metrics, strength of schedule adjustments, and recency weighting to capture how teams are playing right now—not just their record. The result is a more predictive measure of true team quality.
The Simulate Game feature supports up to 1,000 game scenarios per matchup. Beyond roughly 1,000 simulations, the marginal improvement in accuracy is minimal—probability distributions converge, giving you reliable results without unnecessary wait time. This is separate from Edge AI, which uses machine learning rather than Monte Carlo simulation.
Simulate Game offers different tiers that let you choose between speed and depth. Free simulations provide quick estimates, while premium tiers run more scenarios for refined probability distributions. Note: This is separate from Edge AI predictions, which are generated by our machine learning model.
Predictions are typically available by Wednesday each week for the upcoming weekend's games. Bowl game predictions are released as matchups are announced.

Edge AI uses machine learning models trained on publicly available team and player statistics. The model analyzes historical patterns and relationships to generate against-the-spread predictions. This is a separate system from Simulate Game, which uses Monte Carlo simulation. All Edge AI predictions are reviewed by our engineering team for quality assurance.
No. Our prediction models are trained exclusively on publicly available sports data including team statistics, player performance, historical game results, and scheduling information. We do not use any personal user data to train our AI systems. Your account information, browsing history, and usage patterns are never fed into our prediction models.
For full details about AI usage and your rights, see the "How We Use Artificial Intelligence" section in our Privacy Policy.
Our AI model achieves approximately 55-60% accuracy against the spread, which exceeds the 52.4% break-even threshold. However, no AI system can predict sports with 100% accuracy due to the inherent randomness in athletic competition.
We provide full transparency on our prediction performance on the Track Record page, where you can see historical results broken down by week, confidence tier, and other factors. Past performance does not guarantee future results.
Understanding Results
We use a tier system to indicate prediction strength. Each tier represents how strongly the model favors the predicted outcome based on statistical analysis, with higher tiers indicating more decisive predictions.
"Edge" refers to the statistical advantage our model identifies. A larger edge suggests a bigger discrepancy between our prediction and the current betting line.
